The Men's of St. Edmund's (MOSE) has gone through several changes since its beginning in 1935. At that time the organization was headed by Dr. Midian O. Bousfield. Through the years it has been known as "The Lay Men of the Parish," "The Men's Club of St. Edmund's," "The Episcopal Churchmen" (a change made in 1965 because of constitutional changes in the Canons of the Diocese of Chicago), and presently, "Men of St. Edmund's" (M.O.S.E.).
The function of the group has varied somewhat with the program established by each rector, however the mission has generally remained the same, "to provide an atmosphere within the Church wherein the men are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities." The men have focused their attention on monthly breakfasts after the early Sunday morning mass, prepared by its members and featuring outstanding speakers in the community. The topics have varied greatly and have been both informative and educational for those communicants in attendance.
In the past special "fun" activities have been sponsored such as "Father - Son", "Mother - Daughter" dinners and an annual "Night at the Races" fundraiser.

MOSE is organized to:
- Function as a service organization to the church to assist either solely or in conjunction with other church organizations with the maintenance of the church, property, and the support of church activities.
- “Imitate Christ in work and deed” by returning a portion of God’s gifts to us through various forms of stewardship of time, talents and treasure.
- Develop and foster a feeling of community and close relationship between the men of the church.
