Our Mission
Faith. Empowerment. Community
To bring Christ into the lives of all God’s people by aggressively spreading the Christian message to our parish family, to the larger community and to the world through worship, Christian education and community empowerment.
Faith, Empowerment, Community, are the words that are the foundation of the mission of St. Edmund's Episcopal Church. To be rooted in Faith requires love in Jesus Christ and in the values taught by him that help us live together, maintain the Kingdom of God, and reflect the divine nature that is part of each and every one of us. Empowerment, the result and active practice of formation, be it spiritual or otherwise, that allows us to recognize our potential in this life and the world beyond. Community, the reminder that there are many parts that make up the body and are all different and unique and important for sustainable life.

What We Believe
We believe the altar is not a "St. Edmund's" table, nor an "Episcopal" table, but rather Christ's table. All baptized Christians are welcome to participate in the Eucharist.
We believe truth, honesty and integrity are key values necessary for the further development of St. Edmund’s as a spiritual community. We believe in God’s love. Therefore, we will demonstrate a Christ-like loving, acceptable attitude toward all people and affirm that there are no outcasts in God’s kingdom. We believe in justice, equality and socioeconomic diversity. Therefore, we will promote programs that will benefit the community, the African Diaspora and its expression in our church.
We believe the kingdom of God calls for a just society. Therefore, we will work to eradicate injustices when they reveal themselves.
We believe spiritual growth is important for good health, peace of mind, and developing a deeper relationship with God. Therefore, we will support activities that help individuals achieve this end.
Although our present membership is predominantly African-American, we affirm that the full body of Christ encompasses all people. Therefore, we welcome and embrace the diversity of the world and seek to fully include everyone in the life of the parish.
