On July 1, 2000 the Chicago International Charter School-Washington Park Campus began operation at St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church. This was a rebirth of St. Edmund’s Parochial School which opened in 1948 and St. Edmund’s Academy which opened on September 1, 1995 and operated through 1999. The School is committed to meeting and exceeding the educational standards set by the State of Illinois and to teach its children to achieve their own excellence. Class sizes are kept small so teaching may be more personalized and attentive to individual students’ needs. The atmosphere fosters positive social attitudes, a sense of personal pride and self-worth and a sense of responsibility toward themselves and their community.
