Charmian Moore
As the parish administrative assistant, there are very few things that happen at St. Edmund’s Church that Charmian Moore doesn’t know about. She carries out tasks ranging from answering the phone and taking messages, to creating the weekly Parish Notes and compiling the church’s annual report, and yet, she does so much more. She is insightful and a problem-solver, keepings tabs on the wellbeing of parishioners and answering just about every question that comes her way. Charmian stepped in on a “temporary basis” when the administrative position opened in 2015 and she became permanent part time in 2021. Clergy have come and gone, but each has been very grateful for her ongoing ministry.
Her devotion to St. Edmund’s is unquestionable. Charmian and her brother, Kevin Harper, were introduced to St. Edmund’s by their mother, a long-time parishioner. Charmian has been a consistent, dedicated parishioner throughout her life. Over the years she has been a Lay Eucharistic Minister, member of: the Altar Guild, the vestry, property and by-laws committees, and the choir. She also serves as the Acolyte Master and co-chairs the Church Growth Strategic Ministry Team.
As Acolyte Master, she continues to influence the lives of many young people. Charmian maintains contact with acolytes when they go off to college or the military. She attends their dance recitals, concerts and athletic games.
An educator for 27 years, Charmian worked as a teacher, teacher mentor, counselor and case manager. Charmian and her husband Ralph Moore, also a church member, have been married for 44 years and are parents of three adult children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. When she’s not busy at church, she hits the links. An avid golfer, Charmian is a member and former officer of the Chicago Women’s Golf Club.
